I'm going to attempt to share my story, including pictures of some of my ancestors and/or their graves, as well as stories of the individuals themselves...and a little about the journey to find the information I have found...where and how it started, where it led me, and where it is now.
For now, here is a teaser picture relating to the family member that I most recently found out about as a result of literally happening upon his grave and seeing the last name, which was the same as my Great Grandmother about whom I only knew her name, and subsequently finding a memorial for him on Find a Grave and contacting the creator of that memorial and finding out that individual was a distant relative and the grave was that of my Great Great Grandfather.
My Great Great Grandparents, Martin and Dora (Mason) McKay. I happened upon Martin's grave at Chestnut Grove Cemetery and found his memorial on Find a Grave, which indicated he had 10 children (including my Great Grandmother Alice), was not a very good provider, spent much of his time hopping trains, and died as a result of injuries and a subsequent infection obtained in the 1926 hurricane in Florida. Follow up on this find led to obtaining 37 pages of information about the McKay family, which came to the U.S. from Scotland many generations ago, and also finding out that Martin was a very involved and active member of the Salvation Army making his not being the best provider and train hopping a little less derogatory.
My Father, John Dean Davidson, 4/15/1929-1/25/1988, was the son of John and Nellie (Cook) Davidson and was born in the Claridge/Export, PA area, east of Pittsburgh. My Great Grandfather was Alexander Davidson. My Great Grandmother, Nellie's Mother, was Eva Pearl Cook. To my knowledge, the Davidson clan is of Scottish descent. My Father and Grandparents are all buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Export, PA. Unfortunately, I only have information going back a couple generations for my Father's family.

My Mother, Carol Alice Crofoot, 12/20/1940-3/3/2010, was the daughter of Arnold Bates Crofoot and Anne I. Mikkonen-Crofoot.
My Mother
Anne was the daughter of Johannes (a.k.a. John) and Lovisa (a.k.a. Louise) Mikkonen, who are both buried in Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula, OH--they moved to Ashtabula from Finland.

Arnold was the son of Clarence and Alice McKay Crofoot. I will update soon with detailed information on both the Crofoots and the McKays.
